German Potato Salad

INGREDIENTS:
- 5 lbs. potatoes
- 1 lb. bacon
- medium onion, grated
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 tbls sugar, heaping
- 3/4 cup water
DIRECTIONS:
- Boil potatoes, cool, peel and slice.
- Cut up bacon and fry to crisp,
- grate 1 medium onion over potatoes,
- pour hot bacon grease over onions to parcook.
- Add salt, pepper and dill weed to potatoes.
- Mix 1 white vinegar, sugar and hot water to make 1 cup, stir until sugar is disolved, then pour over potatoes and mix well.
- Add crisp bacon and mix in.
- If potatoes soak up too much of the vinegar mixture, make another cup and pour over a little at a time.
